Accessibility

This website should work for everyone: with the keyboard, with a screen reader, on a small phone and with large text.

Statement written on 12 October 2026.

Our target

We aim for level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. We do not claim that every page fully meets it: below is what we checked, how, and what is not right yet.

What we checked, and how

Tested in Chromium with Playwright, and by hand with the keyboard.

Keyboard
Every page can be traversed with Tab. The first tab stop is a "Skip to content" link; focus is visible; the phone menu and the steps of the scan and the NIS2 check work without a mouse.
Structure for screen readers
Every page has a header, a main navigation, a main content area and a footer as recognisable regions, one main title (h1), and the right language (nl, en or fr) in the code.
Contrast
Text colours reach at least 4.5:1 against their background, in the light and the dark theme. This is recomputed from the colour definitions on every build.
Size of buttons and links
On a phone, buttons, menu items and standalone links are at least 44 pixels tall. On a large screen the footer links are smaller.
Small screens
Every page at 360 pixels wide: no horizontal scrolling, no cut-off text.
Dark theme
The site follows your device setting; both themes have their own, tested colours.
Reduced motion
If your device asks for reduced motion, animations and transitions are off.

What is not right yet

  • Source references in legal texts are small links in running text. WCAG allows that for links in a sentence, but they are harder to tap.
  • No test with a real screen reader (NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver) yet, only of the structure screen readers rely on.
  • The sites we link to, such as EUR-Lex, Justel and the US Congress, are outside our control. Some sources exist only in English or Dutch.
  • The offer template is designed to print on one A4 page; on screen it is a long page.

The European Accessibility Act

The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) most likely does not apply to us: it exempts micro-enterprises providing services (Art. 4(5)). We follow WCAG anyway, because a site everyone can use is better for everyone.
